Petunias have flowered for me in gardens around the world, bringing their diehard spirit and vivid color to the most inhospitable patches of earth. They have personality, flair, survival skills and unabashed shameless style and color. The very same qualities I admire in people.

I have created flowers gardens in many challenging environments including the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Middle East. The most hostile regions were nothing compared to battling gophers in Northern California lashed to a redwood tree and rappelling over a canyon edge to save Japanese iris from being sucked underground by gophers.
